Felix Orina, known for having the longest hair in the world, has shared the struggles he’s faced over the years in maintaining it.
The 23-year-old revealed that he typically requires two people to assist him whenever he goes out, as he can’t manage the hair on his own.
Felix explained that his journey began with his family’s dream of breaking a world record. They named him Felix with the goal of setting this record and decided his hair would never be cut.
Felix also opened up about challenges, including losing his job after being unfairly labeled as a bad influence on society.
In a interview with Afrimax, He said: “These dreads has been 23years and from my family lineage many people were actors and they decided to make a trend and something that would last for long that is putting this dreads on me so after i started growing hair they made dreads from my natural hair so for 20years, i have been seeing dreads after finishing high school life became challenging a bit so i started dancing and I used to dance with long dreads
“I have been dancing for 2years later on, Dancing was tough then i decided to leave it and go for something else. So i decided to look for a job the first job i went was applying to the County government when i was going to submit the document, the problem happened whereby the manager saw me as a bad person in the society so if they give me a job in the government there would be a problem so i lost the job, later on I started fashioning and modelling and in fashion and modelling i have been blessed i haven’t faced as many challenges compared to dancing and finding a job but now balancing the fashion modelling and life without a job was difficult and later on I moved to a place called juja whereby i started working in socks company and in the socks company they initially wanted to deny the job because my dreads were starting to grow I talked to the boss and i explained to him what i do and why i have this long hair at that time he allowed me work but told me i should come to work wearing a hat I worked there for sometime without having any problems but people were wondering why i always wear hat and it is known in the company that they don’t like people wearing dreads.
How is relationship has been with the dreads, he said: “Speaking about relationships, It was a tough challenge i have been through many relationships because of the way people judge you at first i remember before i left home I had a girlfriend whereby we used to do alot of things together like going out, dancing acting before i knew what i want in life so she was there because when people see you with long hair they want to associate with you so they can know why you have a long hair so people get to pay attention to you because she was there for that attention this love is fading in a way and it started fading slowly slowly tha things she did because she got attention… she has the attention she wanted from people because of me so she began to feel that it is not me who is bringing the attention so at that time we decided to break up and i went on with live and moved on because at that time i felt bad I felt depressed but now in life you have to keep going
